Position Overview
The Chief Mate plays a key role in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the vessel, supporting the Master and acting as their deputy. This position combines senior nautical responsibility, crew leadership, and operational coordination to ensure dredging activities are executed to the highest professional and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the deck crew
Supervise navigation, safety, and cargo operations
Supervise daily dredging activities in accordance with operational plans
Coordinate with surveyors, shore teams, and client representatives as required
Enforce the safety requirements
Skills & Competencies
- Strong navigational and ship-handling skills
- Clear communication and sound decision-making
- Safety-driven mindset with strong operational awareness
Work Pattern
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation
