When founding OCRE, it was initially thought that the name referred to the color Ochre—a warm, earthy tone. While this wasn’t the original intention, the connection fits perfectly. Mark Okkes, a geologist like co-founder Bart van Mierlo, has a strong affinity for the color. As a painter, Mark frequently uses ochre in his artwork. Additionally, the name OCRE bears a subtle resemblance to his surname, making the connection even more personal.
